It should simply be illegal to close businesses. "But what if something genuinely really bad" - sorry, the state has already proven it is unable to judge "genuinely really bad". So it should lose those powers.

And you know, the thought I constantly had was... who owns the business anyway? If the state can tell you whether or not you can open, and if the state can micromanage how you must behave if you do open, do you own that business, or do they?

I note that DeSantis and Youngkin who have begun moving on these issues are both Republicans. I think saying there is no reason to support Republicans over Democrats in this next election is incorrect. I was raised a Democrat and have voted for some and greatly admired some (for example Patrick Moynihan) but the party as whole has lost its way and has little to offer at this time. The removal of their failed leaders will hopefully lead to a party more guided by common sense and respect for human dignity.
